Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Program - D.A.P.P

Our Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programme (D.A.P.P.) is a behaviour-focused intervention that supports individuals to recognise and change abusive or harmful behaviours in relationships.

‘Empowering Change’ promotes accountability, explores the impact on partners and children, and supports the development of safer, healthier ways of relating.

Who is it for?

The programme focuses on accountability, behavioural change, and the development of safer, healthier ways of relating to partners, former partners, and children. It is suitable for individuals who are self-referring, professionally referred, or participating as part of wider safeguarding or legal processes.

The program can be delivered either on line or face to face and is available throught the UK.

Key Features

Behaviour-focused:

Addresses actions, choices, and responsibility rather than excuses or justifications

  • Evidence-informed: Draws on recognised understanding of domestic abuse dynamics, including coercive control and psychological harm

  • Child-focused: Explores the short- and long-term impact of domestic abuse on children

  • Reflective and practical: Combines insight-based learning with tools for managing anger, triggers, and conflict

  • Flexible delivery: Adapts to the learner’s needs, recognising that progress varies between individuals

  • Accountability-led: Encourages ownership of behaviour and the consequences for others

About the Program

D.A.P.P. is typically delivered over 8–10 weeks, with 20–30 hours of teaching and reflective work, alongside additional sessions where needed. Sessions are usually 2–2.5 hours and are adapted to the learner’s pace and level of engagement.

The programme explores:

  • The development of abusive behaviours and belief systems

  • Power, control, and coercive dynamics in relationships

  • The impact of abuse on partners, children, and wider family networks

  • Accountability, responsibility, and behavioural choice

  • Practical strategies for change, including emotional regulation, communication, and conflict resolution

Learning is interactive and reflective, using discussion, guided exercises, and case studies to support insight and sustained change. Where appropriate, additional sessions may include work around co-parenting or understanding current relationship dynamics.

A personal plan for change is developed throughout the programme to support ongoing progress beyond course completion.

Why Choose this Program

D.A.P.P. is particularly suitable where:

  • There is a need to demonstrate engagement with change

  • Safeguarding concerns are present and acknowledged

  • Co-parenting relationships require improvement

  • Long-standing patterns of conflict or control need addressing

The programme prioritises safety, accountability, and meaningful behavioural change rather than compliance alone. We provide a full detailed report following the completion of the program focusing on the learners process of change. Communication between parents can also be managed through the service to help reduce conflict and keep the focus on the child.
